Conducting a website redesign for a regional soil testing company located on Long Island, NY. LI Soil Testing is designed to provide clear and concise information to customers wishing to have their soil tested for chemicals or different soil types on their property before they either plant or start construction
October 2023 - April 2024
Original website lacked extensive information on the company and the services provided as well as lacking in brand identity. In addition, the URL was outdated and difficult for customers to access with a quick internet search
Redesign LI Soil Testing's website from the bare minimum design to a new modern design for Long Island, NY existing customers as well as potential new customers that provides clear, updated information, showcases the company is competetive in the market, and provides an easy solution to connect with the company
UX Designer redesigning a website for a regional soil testing company from conception to delivery
Conducting research, competitive audit, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, and iterating on designs
- Users are searching for more information on the services provided and can't access because it does not exist on original website. They are also looking for testimonials for additional validation on the company's performance which also does not exist
- Lacking in brand awareness which will reduce recognition and visibillity for potential new customers
Stakeholder was drawn to Option C, but wanted to include the FAQ's block from Option E and to switch out the pictures to the Request a Quote block from Option B
Using the completed set of digital wireframes, I created a low-fidelity prototype. The primary user flow I connected is starting from the homepage viewing the services provided, learning the answers to their frequently asked questions, filling out customer information to request a quote, and being provided a pop-up that confirms the quote request, so the prototype could be viewed by the Stakeholder.
LI Soil Testing Lo-Fi PrototypeThe final high-fidelity prototype presented the Stakeholder's new brand identity as well as removing the featured option to search, as discussions confirmed this feature was not necessary while the company is still small and can always be included in a future iteration of the website as the business grows.
LI Soil Testing Hi-Fi PrototypeWhen first starting this project, I was surprised by how basic the original website was and understood immediately why the Stakeholder needed to update it to become more modern. After conducting a competitive audit I was able to pinpoint necessary information that needed to be included, but was also able to use the new brand identity to elevate the website that gave it an edge above it's competitors.
The website redesign was very well received by the Stakeholder. The new iteration is currently being implemented onto a functional URL and will be live shortly.
